Dear Raymond,

As you may remember, after winning the world three cushion title in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1978, you came to play exhibition at my billiard room in Chicago. I again saw you in Chicago, about 2003, w2hen you came to play in a world cup tournament, hosted by Sang Lee.

I have now moved to Medford, Oregon, this year. The Elks club here recently hosted their 49th annual amateur tournament. We have received a large gift, and are now considering what to do for our tournament next year. One idea I have proposed is to have a new world invitational tournament with $100,000 prize fund, open to 36 players from around the world. Entry fee would be $1,000 per player. Tournaments could be held throughout Europe, South America, Mexico, Japan, Turkey, U. S., etc. to raise money to help send players to this tournament. This tournament would be held in some public place, like a hotel ballroom, etc. All players coming to this tournament would also agree to first play in a three day amateur team tournament held at the Medford Elks club. The objective is to publicize billiards, and increase play in the U. S. We would try to arrange television and newspaper coverage of the event.

I am not familiar with what is happening on the world billiard scene today. Do you think we could get players to come to this type of tournament, with this prize fund? Would you come?

I look forward to your reply.

Beste Heer Ceulemans,

U kunt Hans v d Wurff bellen of mij terug Mailen.

Hello again Mr Ceulemans. My wife and I had a lovely visit with you and your wife at Mr. 100 in late June or early July of this year.
I have been approached by members of the Medford, Oregon Elks Lodge to ask if you and some of the other European billiard players could possibly visit them for their 50th Annual Elks 3-Cushion Billiard Tournament. It is held on the last week of September every year (in 2012 it will be September 22 - 29).
This is just a preliminary note to you. I have no details of expenses or anything else. I will have the Medford Billiard chairman send you more details.
Thank you for your time. You are still my hero.
Yours in Billiards,

Ik heb een vraagje voor u;
